Gimp: create puzzle

1. Create a new white layer
2. Filters->Render->Pattern->Jigsaw

3. Use the fuzzy select tool to select and cut each piece and create new layer from it. Tips: select on the white layer, cut on the real image layer. (Is there any faster way?)

4. If you want to add some space between each piece, you can Select->Shrink each piece.

You are almost done now, but the edges for each pieces are not quite smooth. You can smooth the edge following this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c6M5c9kuB4

1. Apply Gaussian Blur: Filters->Blur->Gaussian Blur

2. Colors->Curves, choose Alpha channel and adjust the curve.
